Zusammenfassung

Die Borderline-Persönlichkeitsstörung als psychiatrische Diagnose ist ein junger Begriff, der seine Wurzeln in der Psychoanalyse und Psychopathologie hat. Menschen, die in diesem Grenzbereich leben, wird ein Krankheitsbild zugeordnet, das bereits vor mehr als einhundert Jahren mit dem Begriff Hysterie beschrieben worden ist. Es inkludiert in seiner ursprünglichen Bedeutung alle Störungen, die durch emotionale Konflikte ausgelöst werden. In den Siebziger- und Achtzigerjahren wurde der Borderline-Begriff als Sonderform der schizophrenen Psychose verstanden. Das bahnbrechende Werk von Otto Kernberg stammt aus den Sechzigerjahren und beschreibt die Borderline-Persönlichkeitsorganisation.
