Zusammenfassung
Die optische Kohärenztomografie (OCT) ermöglicht eine hochauflösende Echtzeitbildgebung des okulären Gewebes am vorderen und hinteren Augenabschnitt. Dabei werden in sehr kurzer Zeit Querschnittsbilder in nahezu histologischer Auflösung der optisch durchlässigen Strukturen generiert. Auch können je nach Typ des OCT-Verfahrens okuläre Strukturen dargestellt werden, die optisch nicht transparent sind. Allerdings ist hierbei die Eindringtiefe teils deutlich reduziert. Limitierend ist dabei die jeweilige optische Dichte des zu untersuchenden Gewebes. Somit lassen sich transparente Strukturen wie die Bindehaut oder die Hornhaut deutlich besser darstellen als lichtundurchlässige, sehr dichte oder pigmentierte Strukturen wie die tiefere Lidhaut, die Sklera oder das Pigmentblatt der Iris. Deutliche Unterschiede hinsichtlich der Eindringtiefe und der im Gewebe erreichten Auflösung sind dabei zwischen der Time-Domain- und der Spectral-Domain-OCT festzustellen. Mithilfe der Swept-Source-OCT ist darüber hinaus noch eine deutlich größere Übersicht des vorderen Augenabschnittes darzustellen, was sie gerade zur Planung von chirurgischen Eingriffen prädestiniert.
