Zusammenfassung

Das Kapitel geht auf die Symptome Dyspnoe und Husten ein und behandelt in einem Unterkapitel das Thema Pleuraerguss.

Dyspnoe ist ein häufiges Symptom bei Kindern mit und ohne onkologische Grunderkrankung. Bei 50–60 % der Kinder mit Krebserkrankungen tritt Dyspnoe in den letzten vier Lebenswochen auf und wird retrospektiv durch die Eltern in 60–80 % der Fälle als leidvoll beschrieben. In der pädiatrischen Palliativversorgung spielt Dyspnoe insbesondere für Patienten mit zystischer Fibrose (CF), Muskelatrophien oder restriktiven Lungenerkrankungen (z. B. bei ausgeprägter Skoliose bei schwerer Mehrfachbehinderung) eine große Rolle. Ein ebenfalls häufiges und belastendes, aber bisher in der Literatur nur wenig beachtetes Symptom in der Palliativsituation, ist Husten. Husten ist körperlich sehr erschöpfend, kann Symptome wie Dyspnoe und Schmerzen verstärken und z. B. zu Appetitlosigkeit, Schlaflosigkeit, Erbrechen u. a. m. führen. Das Kapitel gibt in vielen Tabellen und Übersichten Hinweise zur Differenzialdiagnostik, medikamentösen Therapie sowie wertvolle Tipps aus der Pflege.
