Zusammenfassung

Bei chronischen respiratorischen Erkrankungen wie z. B. der chronisch obstruktiven Lungenerkrankung (COPD) kommt es neben der primären Schädigung der Lunge zusätzlich zu extrapulmonalen Manifestationen. Unterschiedliche Systeme wie z. B. das Herz-Kreislauf-System, die Psyche und insbesondere die Skelettmuskulatur können von Begleiterscheinungen betroffen sein. Muskuläre Dysfunktionen führen zu einer mit fortschreitendem Schweregrad der Erkrankung zunehmenden Einschränkung der körperlichen Leistungsfähigkeit, die oftmals durch begleitende Dyspnoe weiter limitiert wird. Körperliches Training ist die wirksamste Methode, um die körperliche Leistungsfähigkeit zu verbessern und die Dyspnoe zu reduzieren. Aus diesem Grund wird ein individuelles körperliches Training bei Patienten mit chronischen Atemwegs- und Lungenerkrankungen empfohlen und gilt als zentraler Bestandteil des nicht-pharmakologischen Krankheitsmanagements.
