Zusammenfassung
Die Frühgeborenenretinopathie (retrolentale Fibroplasie; retinopathy of prematurity, ROP) resultiert aus der Unreife der sich entwickelnden retinalen Gefäße und einer pathologischen Störung der vasoformativen Faktoren. Sie tritt vorrangig bei Frühgeborenen mit sehr niedrigem Geburtsgewicht auf, die auf zusätzliche Sauerstoffgabe in der frühen Phase angewiesen waren. Die klinischen Veränderungen variieren von geringen Veränderungen der peripheren Netzhaut über schwere Verläufe mit progressiven Neovaskularisationen, Vernarbungen bis hin zur Erblindung infolge einer kompletten Netzhautabhebung. Der Begriff Frühgeborenenretinopathie bezeichnet mit Stadienangabe alle Formen der Retinopathie, während der ältere Begriff retrolentale Fibroplasie lediglich das fortgeschrittene Stadium V beschreibt.
