Zusammenfassung

Dieses Kapitel gibt einen Überblick über die gesundheitsökonomische Relevanz von Adipositas im Kindes- und Jugendalter. Internationale Krankheitskostenstudien zeigen, dass juvenile Adipositas zu erheblichen zusätzlichen Kosten im Erwachsenenalter führt, was die Notwendigkeit unterstreicht, möglichst frühzeitig zu intervenieren. Die Studienergebnisse wichtiger gesundheitsökonomischer Evaluationen zeigen jedoch, dass Prävention und Therapie in Kindes- und Jugendalter, obwohl klinisch relevant, nicht immer ökonomisch empfehlenswert sind.
