Übergewicht und Adipositas gehen bereits im Kindes- und Jugendalter mit veränderten Serumlipid-/-lipoproteinwerten einhergehen. Dieses Kapitel zeigt, wie entsprechende Messwerte interpretiert werden sollten. Eine pharmakologische Intervention ist nur dann indiziert, wenn sich eine vom Übergewicht unabhängige Störung im Fettstoffwechsel, z. B. eine familiäre Hypercholesterinämie diagnostizieren lässt.
