Zusammenfassung
Es scheint so, als wäre die von Peter Drucker getätigte Aussage „die einzige Konstante im Geschäft ist die Veränderung“ mehr auf das heutige Geschäftsumfeld anzuwenden ist als je zuvor (Christensen 2004). In Zeiten der Globalisierung, des Hyperwettbewerbs sowie der Digitalisierung, in welchen sich Unternehmen ständig anpassen und wandeln müssen, ist der Erhalt von Wettbewerbsvorteilen äußerst schwierig geworden. Allgemein scheint sich die Welt, sowohl im Dienstleistungssektor als auch im produzierenden Gewerbe, in welchem sich die Produktlebenszyklen stetig verkürzen, schneller zu bewegen, sodass sich der Wettbewerb durch das vereinfachte Eindringen in unterschiedliche Märkte stetig erhöht (Singh 2004). Die eigentliche Herausforderung für Unternehmen ist es somit, Wettbewerbsvorteile in diesen hoch komplexen Umfeldern zu generieren und diese ebenfalls zu halten. Um dies zu erreichen, reagieren Unternehmen mit innovativen Ansätzen. Innerhalb der letzten Jahrzehnte ist ein wachsendes Bewusstsein für das Verständnis, die Integration und Verbesserung von Innovationen als wesentliches Instrument zur Differenzierung vom Wettbewerb zu beobachten. Zudem haben makroökonomische Umstände und diverse Weiterentwicklungen auf dem technologischen und digitalen Gebiet, Organisationen mehr und mehr dazu gezwungen innovativ zu denken, sowie Innovationen in dem jeweiligen Unternehmen zu etablieren. Somit sind Innovationen, sowohl um interne Prozesse und Ergebnisse zu verbessern als auch Geschäftsbeziehungen zu Kunden und Partnern aufrecht zu erhalten, zu einer wesentlichen Komponente im geschäftlichen Umfeld geworden (Adelhelm 2012; Becker et al. 2017).
