Zusammenfassung
Mit dem Ziel, die Diagnose von Kopfschmerzen zu standardisieren, veröffentlichte die International Headache Society im Jahr 1988 eine revolutionäre neue Kopfschmerzklassifikation. Für 165 Kopfschmerzformen wurden jeweils operationalisierte Kriterien definiert, deren Erfüllen die Vergabe der betreffenden Diagnose ermöglicht. Während bei den sekundären Kopfschmerzformen die jeweilige Ätiologie im Vordergrund steht, erfolgt bei den primären Kopfschmerzerkrankungen eine eindeutige Charakterisierung anhand des klinischen Bildes. Im Jahr 2013 erfolgte die Veröffentlichung einer aktualisierten 3. Auflage (ICHD-3), die nun 276 Kopfschmerzdiagnosen umfasst und unter https://www.ichd-3.org/allgemein zugänglich ist.
