Zusammenfassung
Adipositas und Übergewicht sind heute ein weltweites gesellschaftliches Problem. Die Prävalenz ist steigend, und eine Spontanremission ist nicht zu erwarten. Adipositas ist eine übermäßige Zunahme der Körperfettmasse und des Körpergewichts. Die Ursache für die Entwicklung und Aufrechterhaltung wird als multifaktoriell gesehen. Die Konsequenz einer Adipositas sind körperliche und psychische Gesundheitsprobleme. Ziel ist es in der Adipositasbehandlung, eine langfristige Gewichtsreduktion oder Gewichtsstabilisation zu erreichen. Dazu sind eine dauerhafte Veränderung des Ernährungs-, Ess- und Bewegungsverhaltens und damit eine Anpassung der Energiezufuhr und des Energieverbrauches unabdingbar. Verhaltenstherapeutische Methoden haben sich dazu bewährt. Betroffene erreichen einen höheren Gewichtsverlust als in einer reinen Bewegungs-Ernährungs-Intervention.
