Zusammenfassung

Medizinisch unerklärte Körperbeschwerden, somatoforme Störungen, funktionelle somatische Syndrome … Das Fachgebiet zu körperlichen Symptomen, für die kein organischer Befund nachweisbar ist, hat eine – zum Teil verwirrende – Vielfalt an Fachbegriffen hervorgebracht. Die Klärung und Abgrenzung dieser Begrifflichkeiten und diagnostischen Konzepte ist eine notwendige Voraussetzung, um das zugrunde liegende Problem des Patienten verstehen und einen erfolgversprechenden Therapieplan erstellen zu können. Dazu stellen die ersten drei Abschnitte des ersten Kapitels eine Hilfe dar: Zunächst wird mithilfe von zwei Fallbeispielen ein Einblick in die Vielseitigkeit unerklärter Körpersymptome und begleitender psychischer und Bewältigungsprobleme bei betroffenen Patienten gegeben. Darauf folgt eine Zusammenfassung der historischen Entwicklung des Konzepts der medizinisch unerklärten Körperbeschwerden. Im Anschluss werden diagnostische Klassifikationskriterien und Verfahren sowie Hilfestellungen zur differenzialdiagnostischen Abgrenzung vorgestellt. Das erste Kapitel wird mit einer Zusammenfassung epidemiologischer Fakten zu medizinisch unerklärten Körperbeschwerden abgerundet.
