Prostatakarzinom: Epidemiologie und Risikofaktoren

Zusammenfassung

Das Prostatakarzinom ist eines der weltweit häufigsten Malignome der männlichen Bevölkerung. Im Jahr 2014 wurden nach Angaben des Robert Koch-Instituts über 57.000 Neuerkrankungen in Deutschland beobachtet, und die Prognose für das Jahr 2018 rechnet mit fast 61.000 neu erkannten Patienten. In Deutschland starben im Jahr 2015 fast 14.000 Männer an einem Prostatakarzinom, damit steht das Prostatakarzinom insgesamt an 6. Stelle der Todesursachen von Männern und ist hinter dem Bronchialkarzinom (ca. 29.000 Sterbefälle), aber noch vor dem Kolonkarzinom mit etwas unter 8600 Sterbefällen die häufigste malignomassoziierte Todesursache. Risikofaktoren stellen neben einem erhöhten Lebensalter, vor allem eine positive Familienanamnese sowie eine afroamerikanische Abstammung dar. Weitere potenzielle Risikofaktoren für die Entwicklung eines Prostatakarzinoms sind Nahrungsmittel, Infektionen und die Lebensführung.
