Zusammenfassung
Ein störungsfreies Gleichgewicht (Homöostase) des Wasser- und Elektrolythaushalts ist von großer Bedeutung. Veränderungen können zu ernsthaften Problemen führen. Die Symptomatik von Störungen ist meist unspezifisch und vielfältig. Nur die Betrachtung mehrerer Parameter gemeinsam erlaubt eine sinnvolle Beurteilung. Elektrolytstörungen führen häufig zu Herzrhythmusstörungen oder neurologischen Symptomen. Eine Hyperhydratation kann zum Beispiel einen Hypertonus und Ödeme verursachen, eine ausgeprägte Exsikkose führt zu trockenen Mundschleimhäuten und vermindertem Hautturgor – bis hin zu „stehenden Hautfalten“. Die Therapie der wesentlichen Störungen des Wasser- und Elektrolythaushalts werden in diesem Kapitel erörtert.
