Zusammenfassung
LASER ist ein Akronym und steht für Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation, d. h. Lichtverstärkung durch stimulierte Emission von Photonen. Das theoretische Modell eines Lasers wurde von Albert Einstein im Jahr 1917 vorgestellt. Die experimentelle Bestätigung des Funktionsprinzips konnte 1928 durch Rudolf Ladenburg erbracht werden. Erste medizinische Anwendungen wurden allerdings erst in den 1960er Jahren des letzten Jahrhunderts beschrieben.
