Zusammenfassung
Als Teil des hydraulischen Kontinuums nehmen Pflanzen Wasser – meist – über die Wurzeln aus dem Boden auf und geben es – meist – über Blätter als Wasserdampf wieder an die Atmosphäre ab. Wasseraufnahme und Wasserabgabe einer Pflanze und damit ihre Wasserbilanz bzw. ihr Wasserzustand sind selten ausgeglichen. Übersteigt die Wasserabgabe die Aufnahme, gerät die Pflanze in ein Wasserdefizit, ihr Wasserzustand verschlechtert sich und vice versa. In diesem Kapitel soll die Grundlagen der messenden Beschreibung des Wasserzustandes mithilfe der Wasserzustandsgleichung und der Analyse von Wassergehalt, Wasserpotenzial und seiner Komponenten sowie des Wasserflusses erarbeitet werden.
