Zusammenfassung

Auffälligkeiten der kindlichen Entwicklung („motorische Meilensteine“), Fehlstellungen der Beine, Einschränkungen der Beweglichkeit, aber auch Schmerzen führen Kinder zum Kinderorthopäden, wie auch die Behandlung des Klumpfußes, der Skoliose, neurologischer Krankheitsbilder (Spastik, Spina bifada, Arthrogrypnose) sowie die Versorgung mit Orthesen (Schienen). Dazu gehören auch Beratung und Betreuung bei seltenen Syndromen (z. B. Sklelettdysplasien) und Gliedmaßenfehlbildungen (Dysmelie). Die orthopädischen Probleme des Jugendlichen, der sich in einer stürmischen Wachstumsphase befindet, schließen eine Vielzahl typischer Krankheitsbilder ein, die vor dem Hintergrund einer raschen Skelettreifung immer wieder zu unerwarteten Problemen führen können. Die Diagnostik sollte sich deshalb zielorientiert mit allen Aspekten eines heranwachsenden Bewegungsapparates befassen und die zu erwartenden Veränderungen durch die Größen- und Gewichtszunahme bedenken.
