Zusammenfassung
Das Sprichwort „Was man gern macht, macht man gut“ besitzt unter gewissen Umständen seine Richtigkeit: Etwas gerne zu tun, kann vermittelt über viele Faktoren zu besserer Leistung führen, unser Zeitempfinden beeinflussen und zur Wahrnehmung einer Aufgabe als einfach führen. Einige Aspekte, die sich positiv auswirken, sind positive Einstellung, Zufriedenheit mit der eigenen Arbeit, Interesse, Gefühl der Kontrolle, Engagement, Flow, intrinsische Motivation und positive Emotionen. Dennoch ist „etwas gerne machen“ kein Garant für gute Leistungen. Sind Bedingungen wie Autonomie, Vielfalt, Feedback sowie Erwartungen bezüglich des Ergebnisses und Bedeutsamkeit nicht gegeben, kann dies zu schlechterer Leistung führen. Demnach kommt eine gute Aufgabenerfüllung nicht allein durch Freude, Glück und Wohlbefinden zustande, obwohl dies eine bedeutende Rolle einnimmt. Hieran wird die Bedeutung der Psychologie deutlich, da kein so einfacher Zusammenhang besteht, wie das Sprichwort vermuten lässt.
