Zusammenfassung

Seit dem Ende des 19. Jahrhunderts und den Pionierarbeiten von E.T. Kocher (1841–1917) hat sich die endokrine Chirurgie rapide weiterentwickelt, um sich aktuell selbstständig als chirurgische Spezialität behaupten zu können. Sie bildet sich in einem Kooperationsnetzwerk sowohl aus Endokrinologen, Onkologen, Radiologen, Radiotherapeuten, Nuklearmedizinern, Hausärzten als auch Gastroenterologen oder Humangenetikern ab. Dieses Kapitel gibt eine Übersicht über die Vielfalt der benignen und malignen Erkrankungen der Schilddrüse, der Nebenschilddrüse und der Nebenniere. Eine besondere Beachtung wird dem Thema der familiären endokrinen Erkrankungen gewidmet. Die chirurgische Behandlungsstrategie nach den letzten Leitlinien wird didaktisch mittels Diagrammen und standardisierten Abläufen beschrieben. Die aktuellen operativen Techniken werden berücksichtigt, mit Augenmerk und einer kritischen Diskussion des Stellenwertes der minimalinvasiven Chirurgie.
