Zusammenfassung

Der Blick in die Geschichte der Menschheit zeigt: Seit 5.000 Jahren befassen sich die Menschen mit dem Wert Gerechtigkeit. Lange Zeit war die Untersuchung des Gerechtigkeitsbegriffes Theologen und Philosophen vorbehalten, erst seit etwa 50 Jahren setzen sich auch Psychologen mit der Thematik auseinander. Im zwischenmenschlichen Bereich konnten Ursachen und Folgen sowie intervenierende Faktoren des (Un-)Gerechtigkeitserlebens von Individuen identifiziert werden. Zudem wurden Modelle zur Entwicklung des Verständnisses von Gerechtigkeit über die Lebensspanne hinweg postuliert. Ungerechtigkeit ist assoziiert mit zahlreichen negativen Folgen für Individuen, Organisationen und Gesellschaften (z. B. Konflikte), gerechtes Handeln hingegen mit vielen positiven Konsequenzen (z. B. mehr Kooperation). Doch was ist gerechtes Handeln? Die Antwort auf diese Frage ist essenziell, denn es ist auch die Frage danach, was es heißt, ein Mensch zu sein.
