Abstract
This introductory chapter includes four sections. The first section presents various methods of propulsion in water and brings in interesting facts about fish swimming. The second section briefly introduces how fish and other aquatic animal swims. The third section reviews the current status of robot fish. Finally, a methodology for the design of biomimetic robot fish is presented in the fourth section. The chapter also serves an introduction to the book.
