Stadt in Gefahr – Erdbeobachtung zur Abschätzung der Folgen von Naturgefahren

Zusammenfassung

Die räumliche Lage von Städten ist schicksalhaft. Es sind die Lage in Verwerfungszonen, die geographische Nähe zu Vulkanen oder die Angrenzung an tsunamigefährdete Küsten, die existenzielle Gefahren für Städte induzieren. Mit Blick auf ein mögliches zukünftiges Schadereignis in der erdbebengefährdeten Stadt Padang in Indonesien versucht dieser Beitrag darzustellen, wie sich auf Basis von Fernerkundungsdaten die möglichen Folgen von derartigen Naturereignissen abschätzen lassen. In diesem Zusammenhang liegt der Schwerpunkt des Beitrages auf der quantitativen Darstellung der Folgen von Erdbeben: Wo sind einstürzende Gebäude im Stadtgebiet zu erwarten? Wo ist die am schlimmsten betroffene Bevölkerung lokalisiert?
