Zusammenfassung
Bei der Strahlenmyelopathie handelt es sich um eine iatrogene Schädigung des Rückenmarks durch Bestrahlung von Wirbelsäulen- oder Rückenmarktumoren oder von extraspinalen Tumoren der Körpermittellinie. Die klinische Symptomatologie eines Brown-Séquard-Syndroms, eines Transversalsyndroms oder einer Vorderhornläsion manifestiert sich mit einer Latenzzeit von durchschnittlich 14 Monaten nach Beginn der Strahlentherapie. Die Dauer der Latenzzeit und das Ausmaß der neurologischen Symptome hängen von der applizierten Strahlendosis ab. Meist führt das Krankheitsbild zu einer hochgradigen Behinderung des Patienten.
