Abstract

With China’s accession to the WTO in 2001, a conflict arose between China and the remaining WTO Member States over Chinese market economy status and thus over treatment in anti-dumping proceedings. The EU continues to focus on expanding trade relations with China. The US, on the other hand, has changed its strategy under President Trump, removing the consensus on foreign diplomacy that had been in place until then. Since 2018, the US has imposed trade tariffs on various Chinese goods. China, through the conflict that has arisen, is trying to expand its trade power. Global trade is affected by the trade war between the two parties. China has launched another trade offensive with the Silk Road Initiative. This has been a major component of China’s foreign trade policy since 2013. China is trying to conquer the existing US-dominated global economic system with this major project.
