Zusammenfassung
Das Konzept der Digital Twins („digitale Zwillinge“) hat seinen Ursprung in den Ingenieurwissenschaften und steht grundsätzlich für die virtuelle Darstellung eines materiellen oder immateriellen Objekts. In diesem Beitrag wird demonstriert, wie das Konzept der Digital Twins für die Realisierung von Robotic Process Automation (RPA)-Lösungen adaptiert werden kann. Hierbei findet das Design, die technische Entwicklung sowie das Prototyping der RPA-Anwendung in einer digitalen Replikation des eigentlichen Zielsystems statt. Die Vorteile dieser Vorgehensweise liegen dabei insbesondere in der Unabhängigkeit vom Zugang zu der realen Systemlandschaft sowie in der sicheren Umgebung für Entwicklungs- und Testarbeiten. Auf diese Weise kann beispielsweise sichergestellt werden, dass RPA-Anwendungen schon vor ihrer realen Implementierung in sensiblen Zielsystemen einen sehr hohen Reifegrad aufweisen. Diese Vorgehensweise ist somit insbesondere für ein Outsourcing von RPA-Entwicklungsleistungen von großem Wert. Eine Fallstudie in einer Öffentlichen Verwaltung demonstriert die entsprechenden Einsatzpotenziale.
