Zusammenfassung
Dieser Beitrag behandelt das Konzept der Arbeitsmotivation. Entgegen langjährigen Forschungsbefunden besteht in vielen Unternehmen eine Diskrepanz zwischen dem Wissen darüber, wie motiviert werden sollte, und dem Vorgehen, wie effektiv motiviert wird. Die Gestaltung motivierender Arbeit in heutigen Wissensgesellschaften erfordert Kenntnisse über motivationstheoretische Modelle und Befunde aus der motivationspsychologischen Forschung.
Wir greifen in diesem Kapitel aus einer Vielzahl von motivationstheoretischen Ansätzen drei auf, welche für Führungskräfte wertvoll sind, nämlich die Zielsetzungstheorie, die Selbstbestimmungstheorie und das integrative Motivationsmodell nach Ford. Unter Berücksichtigung von Merkmalen der Arbeit wie der Mitarbeitenden formulieren wir dann in einer Reihe von kurzen Fallbeispielen Vorschläge dazu, wie die Motivation der dargestellten Mitarbeitenden analysiert und gefördert werden kann.
