Zusammenfassung
Das Schaffen gesundheitsförderlicher Lebensbedingungen hat in der Vergangenheit wesentlich zur Verlängerung der Lebenserwartung und dem Rückgang der Krankheitslast beigetragen. Das Potential, durch Gesundheitsförderung auf Bevölkerungsebene Krankheit, Behinderung und vorzeitigen Tod zu vermeiden, und zur Erhöhung der gesundheitlichen Lebensqualität beizutragen, ist auch heute noch bei weiten nicht ausgeschöpft. Im vorliegenden Kapitel werden zentrale Konzepte und Ansatzpunkte der Gesundheitsförderung vorgestellt, und politische Dimensionen und prioritäre Maßnahmen der Gesundheitsförderung in Deutschland diskutiert. Dies umfasst für die Gesundheitsförderung zentrale Konzepte wie die Patho- und Salutogenese, Gesundheitsressourcen und Risikofaktoren, das Konzept der Befähigung (engl. empowerment), der proportionale Universalismus, und die Prinzipien öffentlicher Fürsorge und individueller Autonomie. Es werden verschiedene Ansatzpunkte für Gesundheitsförderung auf Bevölkerungsebene vorgestellt, von dem sozioökologischen Modell, dem Mehrebenenansatz der Public Health, über dem Ansatz von Gesundheit in allen Politikbereichen (engl. health in all policies) bis hin zu dem Konzept der planetaren Gesundheit. Zum Abschluss werden Möglichkeiten vorgestellt, wie Public-Health-Fachkräfte zur Umsetzung von Gesundheitsförderung auf Bevölkerungsebene beitragen können.
