Zusammenfassung
Im Zuge der fortschreitenden Entwicklung technologischer Innovationen werden im vorliegenden Beitrag Produkte und Dienstleistungen beschrieben (z. B. Zuwachs des Online-Handels, Amazon Go, digitale Sprachassistenten, Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, Roboter), welche bei Konsumenten nicht nur positiv besetzte „Fortschrittsassoziationen“, sondern auch potenzielle Gefühle des Unbehagens auslösen können. Diese Gefühle können z. B. mit Hilfe von Forschungserkenntnissen zu der Uncanny-Valley-Hypothese, zu “Social Listening” oder “Personalized Analytics” erklärt werden. Zudem wird eine empirische Studie erläutert, welche sich mit dem Unbehagen von Konsumenten befasst, sensitive Daten preiszugeben. Die Studie zeigt auf, dass neben dem Einkaufskontext (online vs. offline) und der Art des Datenrisikos (Gesichtsverlusts- vs. Sicherheitsrisiko) die ausgelösten Emotionen (Scham, Angst) eine entscheidende Rolle spielen. Implikationen aus Händler- und Verbraucherschutzsicht werden ebenfalls dargelegt.
