Zusammenfassung

Der britisch-kanadische Schriftsteller George Woodcock (1912–1995) war einer der international wirkmächtigsten Historiker des Anarchismus. Als Befürworter des Zivilen Ungehorsams nach Henry David Thoreau folgte er den Prinzipien von Leo Tolstoi, M.K. Gandhi und Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Als Pazifist verwarf er die „Torheit“ revolutionärer Gewalt und betonte demgegenüber die notwendige Übereinstimmung von Zielen und Mitteln zur Vorbeugung eines neuen Autoritarismus.
