Zusammenfassung
Der Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über die Wertschöpfungsdebatte. Wert wird als erwartbar realisierbares Bedeutungspotenzial verstanden; ökonomischer Wert stellt einen im Steuerungsmedium „Geld“ ausgedrückten Sonderfall von Wertschätzung dar. Aufsetzend auf diesem anthropologischen Wertverständnis und dessen pragmatisch-betriebswirtschaftlicher Erfassung zeigt der Beitrag, wie Kommunikation Wert schafft: nicht nur durch Etablierung und Realisierung, sondern auch durch Stabilisierung von Bedeutungspotenzialen, durch Kontrolle von Wertevolatilität. Die Verworrenheit der akademischen Diskussion versucht der Beitrag durch Verweis auf drei, miteinander im Widerspruch stehende Entwicklungslinien zu erklären. Die Argumentation mündet in das Plädoyer, Kommunikationsmanagement und Kommunikationstheorie stärker zu vernetzen.
