Die meisten Nationalökonomen bzw. volkswirtschaftlich tätigen Wissenschaftler rechnen sich heute dem neoklassischen Paradigma zu; daneben gab und gibt es aber auch Wissenschaftler, die versuchen, darüber hinaus zu gehen und die Schwächen der Neoklassik zu überwinden. Sie sind Gegenstand des folgenden Kapitels.
