Zusammenfassung
In Bezug auf unternehmerische Gelegenheiten sind zwei Perspektiven vorherrschend: der Entdeckungs- und der Entstehungsansatz. Diese unterscheiden sich hinsichtlich der Frage, ob für die Gelegenheitserkennung die Suche nach neuen Informationen oder die Verarbeitung vorhandener Informationen in neuer Form erforderlich ist. Beide Ansätze stellen Extremansichten zur Existenz von unternehmerischen Gelegenheiten dar: Der Entdeckungsansatz geht davon aus, dass unternehmerische Opportunitäten objektiv existieren und durch aufmerksame Akteure gefunden werden können (Kirzner). Der Entstehungsansatz geht davon aus, dass unternehmerische Opportunitäten zu Beginn des unternehmerischen Prozesses nicht vorliegen, sondern schrittweise kreativ erschaffen werden (Schumpeter, Sarasvathy). Ein dritter Ansatz, der Validierungsansatz, ist als Mittelposition zwischen den beiden anderen Ansätzen zu verstehen. Er geht davon aus, dass Unternehmer und Unternehmerinnen zu Beginn eine Wertgenerierungstheorie verfolgen und diese iterativ validieren (Foss und Klein; Felin und Zenger).
