Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag werden die Konstanten und Umbrüche der Afrikapolitik der USA im Allgemeinen sowie zentrale thematische und regionale Schwerpunkte dieses Politikfeldes im Einzelnen behandelt. Zunächst werden die Hauptachsen der Afrikapolitik vorgestellt und im zweiten Teil historisch eingebettet. Nach einer kurzen Abhandlung des Kalten Krieges werden vor allem Oszillationen unter den Präsidentschaften von Bush Senior bis Trump herausgearbeitet. Im dritten Teil wird näher auf die Vielzahl der staatlichen und nichtstaatlichen Akteure auf Seiten der USA eingegangen. Der vierte Teil hebt regionale Schwerpunkte in Afrika hervor, bevor im Fazit auf Erfolge und Schwächen der Afrikapolitik eingegangen sowie eine Bewertung des derzeit stattfindenden Wandels ausgeführt wird.
