Zusammenfassung

„Demokratie“ ist wie „Gemeinwohl“ ein schillernder Begriff. Um grundsätzliche Optionen für die Bestimmung des Verhältnisses zwischen Demokratie und Gemeinwohl sichtbar zu machen, empfiehlt es sich, die Demokratietheorien in große Familien, Paradigmen, zusammenzufassen und zwischen ökonomisch-aggregativen und diskursiv-partizipativen Konzeptionen zu unterscheiden. Zudem soll auch noch auf das Demokratie-Gemeinwohl-Verhältnis unter Globalisierungsbedingungen eingegangen werden. Dabei kann man zwischen partikularistischen und kosmopolitischen Konzeptionen der Demokratie unterscheiden.
