Zusammenfassung

Das wissenschaftliche Feld zu Medien und Migration ist durch hohe Interdisziplinarität und eine Dynamik gekennzeichnet, die vor allem aus der rasanten Entwicklung und Verbreitung digitaler Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien resultiert. Daher konzentriert sich dieser Beitrag zunächst auf einige Themen und Fragestellungen, die sich schon länger als Orientierungen durch die interdisziplinäre Literatur ziehen, und im Zuge des medialen Wandels ihre Aktualität verändert, aber nicht verloren haben. Hierzu gehören insbesondere das Interesse an Medien als Mittel zur nationalstaatlichen Integration von Zugewanderten, die Diskussion um die Pluralisierung von Öffentlichkeiten und um die ‚Stimme‘ aber auch mediale Repräsentation von Migrant*innen. Neuere Forschungen adressieren die Bedeutung von Deterriorialisierung, Konvergenz und internetbasierten Medien für Migrationsprozesse, Alltagsleben in der Migration, transnationale Sozialräume und politische Bewegungen. Abschließend wird eine Literatur vorgestellt, die den klassischen Medienbegriff ausweitet, und die Zusammenhänge von Migration und aktuelle technologische Entwicklungen, insbesondere von medialen Technologien im Grenzmanagement adressiert.
