Zusammenfassung
Einer Studie der Association of Certified Fraud Examiners aus dem Jahr 2014 zufolge stellt Korruption im Vergleich zu anderen wirtschaftskriminellen Delikten für kleine und mittlere Unternehmen (KMU) das größte Risiko dar. Die Aufdeckung eines Korruptionsfalls führt zudem für Unternehmen zu direkten und indirekten finanziellen Konsequenzen, die beispielsweise aus Gerichtsverfahren, Strafzahlungen und Reputationsverlust resultieren (Argandoña 2003: 263; Vetter 2013: 9-10) und sich für KMU aufgrund geringerer finanzieller Ressourcen schwerwiegender auswirken als für Großunternehmen (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners 2014: 25, 32).
