Zusammenfassung

Das Forschungsfeld des Internationalen Managements ist geprägt durch eine Vielzahl von Partialtheorien. Zahlreiche dieser Theorien verstehen die Internationalisierung als dynamischen Prozess, unterscheiden sich jedoch hinsichtlich der Erklärungsfaktoren. Einigen beschreiben den Internationalisierungsprozess als inkremental durch die Unternehmensvergangenheit geprägt, andere heben die Bedeutung externer Faktoren hervor und wieder andere berücksichtigen beide Erklärungsansätze. Um diese unterschiedlichen Betrachtungsebenen zu integrieren wird im vorliegenden Beitrag ein mehrdimensionales coevolutionäres Modell entwickelt. In diesem Kontext wird aus pfadabhängigkeitstheoretischer Perspektive untersucht, welche unternehmensinternen und -externen Faktoren auf die Entscheidungsträger bei der Internationalisierung wirken, wobei explizit zwischen initialen Internationalisierungsentscheidungen und solchen während des laufenden Internationalisierungsprozesses unterschieden wird, mit dem Ziel ein ganzheitliches Bild der Relevanz pfadabhängigkeitstheoretischer Überlegungen für den Internationalisierungsprozess von Unternehmen zu erlangen.
