Zusammenfassung
Ausgehend von sozialwissenschaftlichen Diskursen der letzten dreißig Jahre erörtert der Artikel, wie Gefahren, Katastrophen und Risiken wahrgenommen und kommuniziert werden. Herausgearbeitet werden zeitliche, soziale und sachliche Dimensionen, mittels derer sich die drei Begriffe unterscheiden lassen. Dabei wird deutlich, dass bei Katpastrophen- und Risikokommunikation jeweils bestimmte Akteure und Organisationen involviert sind. Bezogen auf die Medien- und Nachrichtenberichterstattung zeigt sich, dass Katastrophen in besonderem Maße journalistische Aufmerksamkeit finden und ein aktuelles Thema darstellen, das auf größte öffentliche Resonanz stößt. Forschungsperspektiven ergeben sich zur Kommunikation der Evidenz in den jeweils angesprochenen Domänen wissenschaftlichen Wissens. Journalisten, Medieninhalte und die Rezipienten lassen sich als die zentralen Analyseebenen identifizieren, auf denen sich die Eigenlogiken des Kommunikationsprozess empirisch beobachten und aufeinander beziehen lassen.
