Medizin: Gendermedizin im Spannungsfeld zwischen Zukunft und Tradition

Zusammenfassung

Die Einführung der geschlechtssensiblen Medizin (GSM) führt nicht nur zu einem relevanten Paradigmenwechsel in der Medizin, sondern sie steigert auch die Sensibilität des medizinischen Handelns und fördert einen Fokus auf die Bedürfnisse der Patient_innen. Die Gendermedizin hat sich historisch aus der internationalen Frauengesundheitsbewegung entwickelt und sich in ihren Aktivitäten auf drei Kernbereiche fokussiert: die Wissenschaft und klinische Medizin, die Lehre und die strukturelle Arbeit zur Verankerung der Inhalte und zum Abbau der strukturellen Hürden. Die aktuellen Debatten im Rahmen der Gendermedizin fokussieren vor allem auf intradisziplinäre Herausforderungen, nichtsdestotrotz sollte die Rolle der Gendermedizin auch im Spannungsfeld mit den Gender Studies betrachtet werden. Insgesamt handelt es sich um eine junge Disziplin, die die Medizin zur Auseinandersetzung mit vernachlässigten Themen der Patient_innenzentriertheit animiert und die Praxis für die nächsten Jahre prägen wird.
