Zusammenfassung
Der Buchbeitrag gibt einen Überblick über aktuelle Methoden der ökonomischen Migrations- und Integrationsforschung, mit dem Schwerpunkt Deutschland. Zunächst werden die mikroökonomischen Grundlagen zur korrekten Methodenwahl in der ökonomischen Migrations- und Integrationsforschung erläutert. Besonderes Augenmerk wird dabei auf die Unterscheidung zwischen Korrelation und Kausalität gelegt. Ausgehend von vorwiegend deskriptiver Forschung werden die Annahmen der kontrafaktischen Analyse sowie die wichtigsten methodischen Probleme zur Identifikation kausaler Effekte in der Migrationsforschung diskutiert. Neben gängigen Methoden zur Korrektur typischer ökonometrischer Probleme wie etwa empirischen Messfehlern werden auch experimentelle und quasi-experimentelle Forschungsansätze vorgestellt, die in den vergangenen Jahren an Beliebtheit gewonnen haben.
Der zweite Teil des Buchbeitrags stellt die Literatur zu klassischen ökonomischen Themen wie Migrationsentscheidungen, Arbeitsmarktintegration von Immigranten und Arbeitsmarktwirkungen von Immigration auf den deutschen Arbeitsmarkt vor. Daneben soll die voranschreitende Öffnung der ökonomisch- empirischen Forschung gegenüber weiteren Themenfeldern dokumentiert werden: Ökonomen haben in den letzten Jahren die sozioökonomische Integration von Immigranten, die Migration im Haushaltskontext, die Rolle von ethnischen Netzwerken im Migrationsprozess, die räumliche Segregation von Bevölkerungsgruppen sowie verhaltensökonomische Aspekte der Migration analysiert.
