Zusammenfassung

Die Korruptionsforschung stellt in der vergleichenden Politikwissenschaft ein jüngeres Gebiet dar, das erhebliche transdisziplinäre Bezüge, insbesondere zur Ökonomie, aufweist. Der Aufschwung des Forschungszweigs in den vergangenen zwei Jahrzehnten hängt eng zusammen mit der Verfügbarkeit aggregierter Datensätze und Indizes, aber auch mit den insbesondere von der Weltbank initiierten Antikorruptionsmaßnahmen im Kontext des in den 1990er-Jahren dominanten Good Governance-Paradigmas. Die wissenschaftliche Analyse befasst sich dabei neben Entwicklungs- und Transformationsländern inzwischen auch eingehend mit etablierten, marktwirtschaftlich verfassten Demokratien. Zugleich zeigt sich im Feld der Korruptionsbekämpfung, dass die Übertragung institutioneller Blaupausen gerade in Ländern mit fragiler Staatlichkeit an enge Grenzen stößt.
