Zusammenfassung
Der Bereich Forschung und Entwicklung am Institut für Animation der Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg beschäftigt sich mit der Entwicklung praxisnaher Technologien für den Einsatz im Animationsfilm, visuellen Effekten, Games und transmedialen Produktionen. Ein spezieller Fokus wurde dabei auf die Entwicklung von Software Tools für die Erstellung glaubhafter Mimik virtueller Darsteller gelegt. Diese finden über den traditionellen Einsatz in 3D Animation und VFX außerdem Anwendung in klinischen Studien der Autismus Forschung. An weiteren Beispielen wird aufgezeigt wie animierte Inhalte in neue Anwendungsbereiche überführt werden können. Die vorgestellten Hilfsmittel dienen, anders als die in den anderen Beiträgen im vorliegenden Sammelband, in erster Linie zur effizienten Erstellung animierter Inhalte. Die beschriebenen Werkzeuge sind für den Einsatz in Forschung und Entwicklung frei verfügbar (siehe Link-Liste am Ende des vorliegenden Beitrages) und zum Teil unter der Open Source veröffentlicht.
