Abstract

Gastric surgery is often performed for the treatment of benign and malignant diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract. Postoperative radiographic examinations can be obtained in many of these patients to rule out leaks, obstruction, or other abnormalities after surgery. It is, therefore, important for radiologists to be familiar with the normal postoperative findings as well as the complications associated with gastric surgery and their radiologic findings. We will describe the major types of surgery for the stomach and duodenum and will demonstrate the postoperative anatomy, the normal postoperative findings, and the associated common complications on imaging studies.
