Zusammenfassung

Die Anorexia nervosa (AN) ist eine der häufigsten chronischen Erkrankungen der weiblichen Adoleszenz. Durch neue Erkenntnisse auf dem Gebiet der Neurobiologie hat sich die Konzeption der Erkrankung in den letzten Jahren deutlich verändert. Während noch vor 10–15 Jahren die Genese der AN psychodynamisch/familiensystemisch erklärt wurde, geht man heute von einer neuropsychiatrischen Erkrankung mit genetisch-biologischen Ursachen aus. Ein nicht unerheblicher Anteil der Erkrankten wird immer noch nicht rechtzeitig erkannt und behandelt, sodass eine frühzeitige Diagnose durch den Kinder- und Jugendarzt von großer Bedeutung ist.
