Zusammenfassung
International hat sich der Begriff „bronchopulmonalen Dysplasie“ (BPD) für alle ehemaligen Frühgeborenen mit chronischer Lungenerkrankung etabliert. Im Jahr 2001 wurde die AAP-Definition der „neuen BPD“ publiziert welche seither als Leitlinie für die Klassifizierung gilt. Die physiologische Definition der BPD berücksichtigt darüber hinaus die O2-Konzentration, die erforderlich ist, um eine O2-Sättigung über 90% zu erreichen. Die radiologische Stadieneinteilung der BPD orientiert sich noch immer an der Klassifizierung durch Northway et al. von 1967, in der 4 radiologische Stadien definiert sind. Selten entwickelt sich heute die „klassische BPD“ als Folge eines schweren Atemnotsyndroms bei Surfactantmangel. Diese Kinder haben schwere strukturelle Veränderungen der Lunge die mit typischen radiologischen Veränderungen einhergehen.
