Abstract

This paper presents the results of experimental investigations of the acceleration and deceleration of a passenger car equipped with summer and winter tires. The research was carried out on a paved section of road, covered with snow, with a variable longitudinal gradient (grade line). This road section seen from above, has the shape of an arc of large initial radius, which then passes into a straight section of road. Vehicle motion parameters were recorded, inter alia, with the use of the built-in measurement equipment DATRON. Geometric surface features were measured using a surveying instrument – TPS. Information about the average value of vertical alignment at each point of the roadway, over the entire length of the test section, allowed compensation of gravitational acceleration effect on the characteristics of the acceleration and deceleration, obtained in the tests.
