Zusammenfassung

Das Vorliegen einer Fernmetastasierung zum Diagnosezeitpunkt bedeutet bei soliden Tumoren in der Regel ein Erkrankungsstadium mit sehr schlechter Prognose. Bei kolorektalen Karzinomen ergibt sich jedoch ein weites Spektrum möglicher Befallsmuster und Krankheitsverläufe, angefangen von einer limitierten Metastasierung eines Organes mit oft noch verhältnismäßig guter Prognose bis hin zur disseminierten Aussaat ohne Aussicht auf Heilung. Entscheidend für den individuellen Patienten ist es, ob eine komplette Resektion sowohl des Primärtumors als auch der Metastasen erreicht werden kann. Die dafür notwendigen diagnostischen Schritte, die daraus abzuleitenden Therapiestrategien und deren Abfolge sowie die erzielbaren Ergebnisse werden unter Fokussierung auf die chirurgische Behandlung in diesem Kapitel dargestellt.
