Zusammenfassung

Als Cushing-Syndrom bezeichnet man sämtliche Zustände pathologisch erhöhter und biologisch wirksamer Kortisolspiegel im Blut, einschließlich medikamentös-induzierter Formen. Als Morbus Cushing wird die zentrale hypothalamisch-hypophysäre Form des Hyperkortisolismus bei Hypophysenadenomen bezeichnet. Das adrenale Cushing-Syndrom ist sehr selten und kann Ausdruck eines, Nebennierenrindenadenoms oder sogar Nebennierenkarzinoms sein.
