Abstract

Pelvic pathology may occur in any of the structures that compose it, bone, ligaments, and muscles. This chapter includes an historical review as well as an in-depth study of the most common causes of pelvic problems in sports.

Undoubtedly the imbalance of the forces generated by the different muscle groups in both the abdominal region and the roots of the thighs is the most pathological element found. The imbalance in other structures can lead to problems that can be associated with even primary clinical manifestations. It is therefore of utmost importance to understand the concept of imbalance between the distal and proximal musculature.
