Abstract

Biological treatments to complement surgery have been shown to improve surgical outcomes. These improvements have been appreciated as a potential acceleration in tendon maturation. Numerous studies on anterior cruciate ligament grafts have shown accelerated maturation or ligamentization with the help of biological treatments such as plasma rich in growth factors.

Studies both in vitro and in animals, including human studies, have reported improved results in ligament structure and strength and earlier ACL graft maturation, with the use of growth factors.
