Abstract
This chapter focuses on TFEL materials and devices. There are distinct operating principles underlying these devices, which will be examined in detail. Established and emerging EL phosphor materials are described and their relative merits and specific properties discussed. The chapter concludes with some indication of likely future developments in the context of competing flat panel display technologies.
